Palo Santo is one of the most ancient wood burning and ritual purification practices to cleanse a space in history, dating back to the Inca Era! This tree is also in the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh, two other sacred trees mentioned in the bible. Palo Santo trees are found in Peru, Venezuela, and other South American countries (ours is from Ecuador). Due to its more recent high demand, Palo Santo is typically harvested from fallen trees so that this beautiful plant does not become extinct and its natural habitat is preserved.
